How it all began
Simmerl Chronicle
August 12, 1967
Johann and Theresia Pielmeier open the Inn Beim Simmerl with a small dining room and 3 rooms. Shower and toilet were still in the hallway at that time.
1968
Another 5 rooms were added. Shower and toilet still in the hallway.
1976
A building was added to the inn, the dining room expanded to 80 seats and the double rooms increased from 8 to 12. During this construction, all rooms were equipped with shower and toilet.
1988
A separate guesthouse was added. This made it possible to attract bus tours. The first holiday apartments and multi-bed rooms for families were created, a playground and soccer field were established, and the first families discovered the Inn Beim Simmerl during vacation times.
1991
The then relatively small kitchen, which also accommodated a sofa and the private corner bench, was bursting at the seams and it was decided to add a building with a modern large kitchen (the current kitchen) and 4 more rooms. We became significantly more professional and modern. All rooms got telephones, satellite TV and of course shower and toilet.
2000
Alexander took over the business and continued unchanged for 1 year. Guests from near and far, whether old or young, families and clubs, etc. – in short, all social classes and age groups visited the Inn-Hotel Beim Simmerl. The idea to specialize became louder and louder. The quiet secluded location, the large courtyard, the many animals and the family vacations with the then 8-year-old Johannes in children’s hotels motivated him to specialize in family vacations. Then everything happened very quickly.
2001
Joined Familotel and invested 1 million euros. The indoor pool was added and all existing rooms were converted into modern apartments with children's room, parents' room, hallway and bathroom. We were awarded 3 stars Superior.
2011
The then main house was connected with the guesthouse and indoor pool. We invested another 2.5 million euros for a connecting building with 3 new suites, a spacious kids' club, the new reception was created and with the help of an interior designer the entire hotel was adapted to a uniform style. We were awarded 4 stars, received Service Q 2 and 4.5 Familotel crowns.
2016
Our indoor pool was expanded into the current fun and slide paradise for 1.5 million euros.
2017
The next generation, with son Johannes and his wife Melanie, joined the business with their skills and experience and together with Alexander made it what it is now. A professionally, modernly run children's hotel with long-standing and motivated employees, which has made a name for itself in the Bavarian Forest.
2020/2021
New ideas arise and are quickly implemented:
- We are building a treehouse to live in for one family. It fits uniquely into the hotel through its unusual architecture and green facade.
- The existing kitchen is modernized and enlarged to meet the quality standards of our chefs and of course the guests.
- A wood-fired oven and the associated outdoor buffet station are being built to create even more variety in meals, as well as to offer cocktail evenings for our guests.
- Our playhouse is being attached to the hotel. A solid wood house just for playing -- not only for toddlers, but also teenagers and adults get excitingly designed areas.
- Last but not least, a new hall for 1,000 m³ wood chips is being built to continue heating sustainably, ecologically with wood all year round.
