Right behind our house is a sledding hill. Look forward to sledding on the in-house hill with maximum fun factor. A fun sledding day offers pure family enjoyment.

So that you don't have to overload your car during the winter vacation with children, we offer you a free sled rental.

Sledding in St. Englmar

Enthusiastic sledders can also let off steam on the sledding slope in the spa park of St. Englmar, 5 km away with magic carpet and ice skating area. Thanks to a floodlight system that ensures the best visibility, you can enjoy sledding even after sunset. In addition, there are parking spaces, a kiosk, and toilets in the immediate vicinity.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides

Wrapped up in warm blankets, you sit in the horse-drawn sleigh and enjoy the slowly gliding winter landscape and the magical atmosphere of the deeply snow-covered winter forest.

Night rides are not possible!
(No lighting on the sled track – fire near horses not possible!)

At our Kinderhotel Simmerl, numerous trails invite you to cross-country ski through the snowy Bavarian Forest landscape during the winter months. You can start directly at the hotel.

Beginners can learn cross-country skiing on the approx. 3 km long in-house trail.

Cross-country skiing in the Bavarian Forest is one of the most popular winter sports activities in the region and is a true pleasure for beginners and families with children as well as experienced winter sports enthusiasts. This is ensured by 6 cross-country trails (1 km illuminated, 2 km skating trails).

DSV Nordic Aktiv Cross-country Skiing Center St. Englmar-Hirschenstein, network of a total of 74 km length with 8 different trails and varying difficulty levels
Grandsberg trails in the DSV Nordic Aktiv Cross-country Skiing Center, trails with a length of 53 km classic and 49 km skating

Klinglbach trail, approx. 3 km long with easy route character – ideal for beginners
Sonnen trail, approx. 3 km long combined trail with easy to medium difficulty
Tannenbaum trail, 3 km long with easy character – ideal for beginners

During your winter holiday at Kinderhotel Simmerl, several winter sports shops offer guided snowshoe hikes.

Of course, you can also explore the sparkling winter landscape on your own – you can download the tour suggestions for free or pick up hiking maps at the tourist information center. A snowshoe tour in the forests of St. Englmar will certainly be a great experience for your children as well.
